Wednesday's Words of Wisdom :: Faith in an Unshakeable God!

Faith is not believing in my own unshakeable is believing an unshakeable God when everything in me trembles and shakes ~Beth Moore

I came across this quote last week and it really stood out to me.  I was raised in a home where I was taught that having faith was important.  And it IS.  But, the way I was taught was that it’s OUR faith that does the work. That it depends on how much or how little faith we have, whether what we are praying for will come to pass.  I have actually heard people say that a person died from their disease because they didn’t have enough faith!  I DO NOT believe this.  That’s why I love the quote above so much!!

Having faith is not believing in yourself.  It’s not being able to recite certain words and pretend you don’t ever have doubt.  Having faith is not speaking positive confessions.  It’s not the absence of fear.  It’s not about claiming what you want to happen and then having false hope that just because you “claimed” it, it will come to pass. Having faith is not about us at all.  No. Having faith is all about God!

Faith is believing in God that no matter what the outcome of the circumstance God is in control.  Faith is understanding that God’s will is perfect and that He loves His children and wants what is best for them (even if it’s not what we think at the time)!  Faith is trusting God even when our human minds fail us.  Faith is believing in God even when doubt creeps in.

God doesn’t change.  His will is perfect.  He is in control.  True faith is trusting and depending on Him even when it’s not easy!  Faith is praying for God’s will to be done, even when we have our own selfish desires. Faith is understanding that ultimately as Christians we should want God’s will above anything else.

It’s much easier, I think, to live in denial and believe the falseness of the “If I don’t say it, it won’t happen to me” mentality.  But, to put faith into action and to trust God above anything else, to put aside our own selfish wants and desires and completely accept God’s will—that’s not easy.  That takes true faith—relying completely on Him!

So, you may wonder….. “Will I still have doubt or worry?”  Of course, everyone does.  It doesn’t mean you don’t have faith.  Instead, it just means that in the face of your trembling you just need to place your trust in our unshakeable God!
