My Goals for 2013!

I don’t really like to set New Year’s resolutions because it seems they always get broken.   I do, however, like to sit down and write out a list of goals--things that I would like to try and do in the next year.  I once read that if a person reaches all of their goals they are setting them too low, but if they don’t reach any they are setting them too high.  My attitude towards this is to go somewhere in the middle.  Set just enough goals that I can try to attain them, but not feel like a total failure if I don’t completely achieve them (which is how I always felt when I messed up my resolutions on January 1oth).  J  My mindset with this is to set goals that I will try each day to achieve.  If I fail one day, it’s okay.  I’ll start over the next day and try again.

I thought I would share a few of my New Year’s goals with you all.  First, because it will probably help me stay more accountable, and also, just so you can see a picture of me in real life.  Some of the things I struggle with and want to improve.  So here goes….here are a few of my ideas and goals for the year 2013!

Spend time in prayer and Bible study daily.

Find more opportunities to help and serve others.

Set a bedtime of about 10:30, and wake time of 6:00 (so I’ll have time to read Bible and workout before girls awaken).

Try to read at least one book per week!  (I love to read, but unfortunately, I normally let myself get too distracted with other things and miss out, so I thought this would be good for my relaxation and down time).

Try to eat healthier (more fruits & veggies) and drink more water (at least 64 ounces a day)—(Usually this one is something about how much weight I’d like to lose, but since I’m 5 ½ months pregnant right now that’s not really an option----at least until after April—then I’ll be wanting to lose that weight)!

Spend more intentional and present time with my girls.  I stay at home with them, homeschool them, and am pretty much around them all the time.  However, that doesn’t mean that I’m always intentional about the time I am spending or the answers I give them when they ask me a question.  I’m going to try harder to be more present—rather than distracted on the computer.  (Even if it means a little less blogging).

Get the new twin beds set up and my oldest girls sharing a room so I can prepare the nursery.

Eat at home.  Get back to meal planning.

Continue to do weekly store matchups and other coupon or good deals when I can.

Post more “useful” posts about homeschooling, frugal life in the household, or inspirational posts.

Continue to take Sundays off for family and worship time.

NOT spend too much time on the computer trying to blog instead of spending quality time with my family.  I am going to schedule certain times of the day for me to check the computer  and try to be more careful of not getting distracted wasting hours at a time.  Family and my girls will be first—before blog work.

Stick to our monthly cash budget system.  Try to stop going over each month because of wasteful spending or eating out.

Continue to tithe.

Well, that’s some of what I’ve decided to work on this year.  What about you?  Have you set any new goals?  Share them here so we can be accountable together!

Happy 2013!!
